The Australian Virtual Console shop saw three releases for three past platforms this week: Yoshi’s Story from Nintendo 64, Super Air Zonk (Rockabilly Paradise) from Turbografx CD and Magician Lord from the NeoGeo.
This new video of Namco Museum Remix reveals which games will be included. In the retro department are the original arcade versions of Pac & Pal, Dig Dug, Cutie-O, Mappy, Galaga, Galaxian, Gaplus, Xevious and Super Pac-Man. In the remix department are PacMoto, Gator Panic, Rally-X Remix, Galaga Remix and Pac’n Roll. This is shaping up to be a nice compilation, assuming it is budget priced.
Some of my regular readers (yes, both of you) may remember that I was given some coloured Wii Remote ‘condoms’ as a gift, on the same day that Nintendo announced they were going to ship free Wii Remote jackets. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to use my new coloured covers at the same time as the official protective covers from Nintendo.
Turns out, you can fit the official Nintendo WiiMote covers over the third party covers just fine (the third party covers are very thin, about 1 mm thick) . You just have to be careful to not shift the third party cover too much as you put on the official clear cover, else the rubber may obscure some buttons. Once it’s on, it seem to stay put and not slip around. I’ve tested it out on Warioware: Smooth Moves .. a game that requires lots of grip changing, and I didn’t find any problems. Still not sure if I really like the Nintendo covers, but if it stop me breaking a Wii Remote, it’s worth the slight cosmetic drawback.
Want your own uber-cool coloured Wii Remote jackets ?
Three titles appeared in the Australian Virtual Console shop this week; Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest, originally released on the NES, more NeoGeo stuff with World Heroes (a fight game, surprise, surprise) and a Turbografx-16/TurboDuo release, Gate of Thunder (a scrolling space shooter, surprise, surprise).
Nnooo, an Australian developer, has recently announced that they are developing a game called . Essentially, it is a bubble popping game (aka a bubble shooter) which resembles several simple Flash games available on the web (like Bubble Pop on WiiCade); check out the video on their site . It will support up to 4 simultaneous players.
While is sounds (and probably is) very simple, it doesn’t mean it won’t be fun (Wii Play, anyone ?). As usually the case with simple arcade games, the devil is in the detail and I’m sure tweaks to the playability and scoring will ultimately make or break this game. Here’s hoping Nnooo get it right !!
(The guys at Nnooo are clearly big Nintendo fans too … check out their opinions page, where they review various new Wii and DS games from a developer and designers perspective).
